Uralsvyazinform is the local telecommunications provider for the Perm region. It provides local, national, and international basic services. It also operates three cellular services at the 450, 800 and 900 MHz frequencies. Apart from telecommunications, Uralsvyazinform is also involved in TV and radio broadcasting. Uralsvyazinform was partially privatized in 1993, after the formation of the state holding company Svyazinvest. Svyazinvest held 51% of the corporate stock and 51% of the voting rights by 1998. The remaining shareholders were individuals, management, nominees, legal entities, and the treasury. The company's main investment sources were cash flow, depreciation, and loans. The company owned 549,600 access lines, including urban, rural and cellular by 1998. The company investment was US$18 million in 1995, US$ 37 million in 1996, US$37.7 million in 1997, and US$ 39 million in 1998. The total investment in its wireless network was $5.2 million by 1998. The company expected to invest $5.5 in 1998, $4.5 in 1999 and $4 in 2000 only for cellular services. Became a branch of JSC Uralsvyazinform in November 2002. 2008 connections: 5322.3 (mobile) + 3159.4 (fixed) numbers obtained from Svyazinvest Group of Companies Annual Report (2008) and financial report (3Q 2008) http://eng.svyazinvest.ru/investor-relations/financial-reports/ 2006 investment figure is actual and 2007 is planned, both from 2006 annual report, 2007 was not avail.
