Description | Centrus Energy has begun domestic centrifuge manufacturing to support commercial Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) enrichment activities at its Piketon, Ohio facility. The project involves a multi-billion-dollar expansion of uranium enrichment capacity to meet a growing backlog of $2.3 billion in contingent LEU sales and aims to produce High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) at commercial scale. The expansion is expected to create thousands of American jobs, including construction and operating jobs in Ohio and Tennessee, and is supported by public and private funding, including Department of Energy funding and private capital. |
