The aim of the project is to provide sustainable and innovative financial services for investments in urban infrastructure with positive effects on the environment and to strengthen municipalities in the planning and implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects. To this end, the Tamil Nadu Urban Development Fund (TNUDF) is to be provided with a low-interest loan totaling EUR 180 million (Phase 1 EUR 80 million, Phase 2 EUR 100 million) to finance infrastructure investments in the water and sewage sector, as well as EUR 0.75 million for accompanying measures. In addition, a budget loan of EUR 5 million at IDA conditions is to be provided to the Water and Sanitation Pooled Fund (WSPF) managed by the TNUDF to improve the creditworthiness of pooled municipal bonds.
