The FC project is intended to finance innovative, sustainable urban infrastructure projects that serve environmental protection and/or climate resilience and essentially fit into the overall structure of the previous sustainable urban infrastructure financing (2006.661.07, 2011.664.46) carried out with the TNUDF. As a special feature, these projects for the state of Tamil Nadu should have innovative components that have a scalable pilot character and, if possible, achieve a high level of visibility. Innovative here means that corresponding components that have hardly been used in the state of Tamil Nadu to date are implemented as part of a project. The grant is intended to support at least four different project types that have innovative and environmentally-related approaches and that will better protect people from climate change and strengthen their climate resilience in the future, despite the additional challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic. Innovative, scalable and environmentally-related pilot projects in the field of sanitation, waste management or access to green spaces contribute in particular to action areas 1 (sanitation and management of feces, wastewater and waste in households and industry) and 2 (urban development, urban governance) of the Sustainable Urban Development Development Programme in India. The target group of the project is the urban population in the state of Tamil Nadu, i.e. the specific users of the urban infrastructure (directly) and indirectly the entire population of the cities, who will benefit from participation in the improved living conditions as a result of reduced environmental and health impacts. People in disadvantaged regions of Tamil Nadu in particular are to benefit from the measures.
