The Urban Mobility Improvement Program Project aims to contribute to the improvement of the safety, efficiency, and environmental quality of urban mobility in the Dakar metropolitan area, especially for the urban poor, and improve road safety in Thies and Kaolack. There are five main components. The first implements a road rehabilitation program and road safety and traffic management measures. The second component supports measures for pedestrian and traffic safety along the suburban railway line. The third component provides technical and financial support to develop a leasing scheme. The fourth component develops an urban air quality management strategy. The fifth component builds capacity and provides institutional support for Dakar's urban transport coordinating council (CETUD).
