The objective of the Urban Water Supply and Wastewater Project for Vietnam is to increase access to sustainable water services and environmental sanitation in selected urban areas in project provinces. There are two components to the project. The first component is investments and project implementation this component will be implemented by the participating provinces for investments in water supply and environmental sanitation. Works, goods, and consulting services for project preparation, implementation, investments, and technical assistance will be supported under this component; and the second component is technical assistance there are two parts for this component: institutional strengthening and project monitoring. The sub-component will be implemented by the Ministry of Construction (MOC) to develop the sector through the establishment of an information base on the access and quality of service and support project implementation; and Improving the Efficiency of Investments and Operations. The sub-component will be implemented by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to develop policies on applying wastewater tariffs and on promoting the role of the private sector.
