"This project involves the construction of the URE Barueri Waste-to-Energy plant, located in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The planned generation capacity of this waste-to-energy plant is 20MW and it will process 870 tons of urban solid waste per day. The technology implemented in this plant is commonly utilized in Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facilities worldwide, providing benefits such as a compact installation footprint, robust reliability, and suitability for operation in proximity to major urban centers. The sponsor for this initiative is Orizon Valorização de Resíduos, through its subsidiary Barueri Energia Renovável. The total project cost is $111m of which $72m (R$395m) were secured with a debenture issuance by the sponsor company, with a final maturity occuring in March 15, 2043. The remaining $39m will be provided by shareholders’ own capital. The financial close date is July 2nd, 2024.
