The project URSULA (wt) aims to develop, in the frame of an international co-production, a period drama set on the island of Ventotene, a fascist political confinement Mediterranean island during WW2. Set in harshest days of the dramatic turning point of European history, the film shows, thanks to vivid characters with a rich dramatic potential, the strength of a generation of young people who have the will and the personal commitment, at the risk of their own lives, to radically rethink morally and politically the Old Continent from the rubble of war and totalitarianism. It also restores the visionary historical importance of the Ventotene Manifesto, as one of the founding documents of what would later become the European Union. The project is an organic co-production between two experienced independent companies based in two countries which are between the two larger markets in Europe, with very different financing opportunities and possibilities: MIR Cinematografica (IT) and Ostlicht Filmproduktion (D). The main persons involved in the action are: the development team of MIR (Producer and Head of Development; Production Coordinator; Production Assistant; Accountant) and of OF (Producer and Head of Development; Production Coordinator and Production Assistant; Accountant) with the participation of a set of external collaborators (Script Writer; Script Editor; Historical Consultants; Co-production consultant; Location Manager; Casting Director IT and D; Film Marketing Agency; Legal Consultants; etc.). The activities foreseen with the MEDIA support include: historical research and writing of the screenplay, overall creative development of the film, participation to public funding and markets for the financing of the film, marketing strategy, location scouting, identification of the cast and of the main creative and technical figures etc: all development and pre-production activities until the start of principal photography (expected in Summer 2023).
