Description | The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plans to reroute US 27 (SR 1) starting at the sharp curve north of LaGrange, constructing new roadway to connect to Youngs Mill Road, then along Davis Road to Lafayette Parkway and continuing to Hamilton Road. Davis Road near Lafayette Parkway will be widened to four lanes with a raised median and improved intersections. The project aims to provide alternate routes to the interstate to reduce truck traffic through downtown LaGrange. The project is divided into three phases, with the first phase between Hogansville Road and Lafayette Parkway under right-of-way acquisition and programmed for construction in 2026, and the second phase between Youngs Mill Road and Hogansville Road programmed for 2027. The project is fully funded by the state with an investment of about $132 million. |
