Description

U.S. Anesthesia Partners (USAP), providing anesthesia services in 700 inpatient and outpatient facilities in multiple states, was involved in a legal case initiated by the FTC in September 2023. The FTC alleged that USAP and its private equity owner, Welsh Carson Anderson and Stowe, engaged in a roll-up acquisition scheme to consolidate anesthesia providers in Texas, reducing competition and raising prices to supracompetitive levels. A settlement in January 2025 restricts Welsh Carson's ownership increase and requires notification of future acquisitions. Litigation remains ongoing.
