Description

Description

Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) is investing approximately $70 million in a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project located about 76 kilometers off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. The project aims to produce approximately 4.4 million tons of LNG annually and is supported by long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements. KIND is leading the project structuring alongside BlackRock, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment's policy fund, and Hanwha Asset Management. Samsung Heavy Industries is bidding for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the first FLNG unit. The project plans to expand to a second and third FLNG unit, with financing support from the U.S. Export-Import Bank for follow-on phases. This project represents an integrated investment-development model linking equity investment, financing, EPC, and operations, serving as a model for Korean infrastructure exports.
