US Navy Autonomous Containerized Cargo Ships

The US Navy is developing a new class of unmanned surface vessels (USV) designed to transport containerized payloads. The project aims to create scalable, modern autonomous platforms with three configurations: Modular Attack Surface Craft (MASC) carrying two 40-foot containers, High-Capacity MASC carrying four 40-foot containers, and Single Payload MASC carrying one 20-foot container. The vessels will include autonomy software, perception systems, command and control, hull machinery, electrical systems, and external communications, with command and control located off-hull either ashore or on another vessel.
