Description	The US Navy's Constellation Class Frigate Project involves the construction of Constellation (FFG-62) and Congress (FFG-63) frigates. The project started in 2020 with a contract awarded to Marinette to build Constellation. The design is based on the French and Italian FREMM design but has undergone significant revisions. The delivery of the first ship was postponed from 2026 to 2029, and the project cost increased by approximately $1.5 billion. The Navy has decided to interrupt the production of subsequent ships beyond the first two, canceling the production of four additional ships to focus on faster and more flexible fleet capabilities.
