Description | The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced new restrictions on funding renewable energy projects on farmland. Solar projects on prime farmland and those using solar panels from foreign adversary countries are no longer eligible for USDA funding. Wind and solar projects are excluded from the USDA Rural Development Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program. Under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), only right-sized wind and solar systems for on-site energy use qualify, with large ground-mounted solar systems above 50 kW without historical energy consumption evidence disqualified. Priority points for solar projects in REAP grants are removed. |
