Description | The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has ended subsidies for solar and wind facilities on farmland to preserve access and productivity of American farms. The USDA has subsidised about $2 billion for solar and wind development through its Rural Energy for America Programme (REAP) and others. Wind and solar projects are no longer eligible for USDA Rural Development Business and Industry (B&I) guaranteed loans and will face restrictions under the REAP guaranteed loan programme. The move is part of the Trump administration's energy dominance agenda, which aims to stop development of wind and solar sectors while promoting coal and petroleum. |
