Description
Description | The U.S. Navy will deactivate the nuclear attack submarine USS Boise, a Los Angeles-class submarine commissioned in 1992, after 10 years without progress toward its return to service. The decision reallocates resources to more strategically relevant projects, including new Virginia and Columbia-class submarines and fleet readiness improvements. The USS Boise project had only 22% progress with over $800 million invested, projected to reach $3 billion if completed, but would have only 20% of the service life of a new submarine. |
