Description
Description | Indigenous House is a new Indigenous-focused cultural and academic hub at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. The building, designed by Formline Architecture + Urbanism in association with LGA Architectural Partners, draws from Eastern wigwams and longhouses to create spaces for ceremony, teaching, gathering, research, and student support. It replaces a former parking lot with a landscaped setting featuring native and medicinal plants, outdoor gathering areas, and views of the Highland Creek ravine. The two-storey building features curved glue-laminated timber construction, circular gathering spaces, and supports Indigenous cultural programming and language preservation. |
