Description | The Uttara–Motijheel metro rail system in Dhaka has been identified with 45 types of defects and deficiencies including issues in signaling, electrical works, civil and structural engineering, and train systems. These defects have caused frequent service disruptions and maintenance problems since its opening in 2022. The project began in 2012 with an estimated cost of Tk 220 billion, which has risen to Tk 335 billion, with a significant loan from Japan's JICA. Construction was divided into eight packages overseen by a consultant consortium led by Japan's Nippon Koei. |
