UW Tacoma Campus Housing Expansion

planned

The University of Washington Tacoma is seeking a developer to acquire its existing student housing building, Court 17, and to build new student housing facilities for an additional 580 students or more, along with a 16,000-square-foot dining hall on two neighboring sites. The development sites include a vacant 1-acre parcel at 1745 Market St. and a 0.7-acre parking lot at 1740 Jefferson Ave. and 1722 Broadway. The university is offering 40- to 80-year ground leases on the properties and is seeking a minimum upfront ground rent payment of $18 million for Court 17. The project supports the university's goal to increase enrollment to 10,000 students.
