Description
Description | The objective of the Khorezm Solar IPP Project is to increase private sector-led renewable energy supply in Uzbekistan. The Khorezm Solar IPP Project comprises a US3.5 million dollars IBRD payment guarantee to implement the 100 MW solar power plant with a 3.2 km transmission line to connect to the grid. The Khorezm site covers a 177-hectare area of land located in the Tuprokkala District in the region of Khorezm. The expected RE generation over the Project's lifetime averages 240 GWh/year, leading to the average avoidance of 23.1 thousand tons of GHG emissions per year. Like the other solar PV plants supported under the WBG Scaling Solar Program and IBRD guarantees, IFC Transaction Advisory assisted the GoU in undertaking the competitive bidding process for the Project. The Khorezm solar project will be supported by leading development finance institutions (DFIs), including EBRD. The proposed PV plant will be built in a single phase over a construction period of up to around 152 months. The technical lifespan of the Project is expected to be 25-30 years, in line with international standards. The project will connect the national electricity network via a new 3.2-km 220-kV overhead transmission line (OTL) built by Voltalia to the existing Sarimay substation, located about 3 km northeast of the site. |
