Description | The Vaal Aerotropolis International Airport project in South Africa is a $1 billion greenfield international airport and aerotropolis development. It aims to anchor a smart city and industrial strategy in Gauteng's southern corridor, integrating aviation, industry, and sustainability. The project includes a new international airport with passenger and cargo terminals, four major economic zones, an integrated road network connecting to the N1 highway, a solar photovoltaic farm, agricultural and agro-processing zones, and smart city infrastructure. The airport is expected to handle 2 million passengers and 150,000 tons of cargo annually in its initial phase. |
