The project ‘Valle Andaluz del Hidrógeno Verde Studies I’ contributes to the implementation of the Project of Common Interest (PCI) 9.15.4 “Valle Andaluz del Hidrógeno Verde (HyAndalusia)”, which aims at reaching a total electrolyser capacity of 2 GW distributed across provinces in the region of Andalusia (1 GW Huelva and1 GW Cádiz), leading to the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries via renewable hydrogen and its derivatives. The CEF-funded “HyAndalusia - Studies I” project aims to conduct the necessary studies that will allow to reach the Final Investment Decision (FID) and prepare for project implementation for 1,1GW of the Valle Andaluz del Hidrógeno Verde, including ONUBA Phase 1, THARSIS and CARTEIA Phase 1. The project encompasses studies and activities necessary for technical development, risk assessment, financial planning, Pre-FEED and FEED studies, contract negotiations the projects in Huelva (ONUBA Phase 1 and THARSIS), and the exploration of the Rociana - ONUBA Hydroduct's feasibility. It also involves pre-FEED and FEED studies, negotiating contracts, and developing financing strategies to ensure project readiness for implementation of the CARTEIA Phase 1 project in Cádiz. The planned electrolyser plants that are part of the project HyAndalusia – Studies I will be located in the two provinces of Huelva (sub-projects THARSIS, ONUBA Phase 1 and ROCIANA-ONUBA Hydroduct) and Cádiz (sub-project CARTEIA Phase 1). The implementation of HyAndalusia - Studies I will enable to progress the development of electrolyser capacity for H2 production in the aforementioned sites in Andalucía (Spain) and aim to achieve hydrogen interconnections, address hydrogen supply shortages and reduce bottlenecks, significantly contributing to Europe's security of supply and energy independence.
