Description | The project developed by Compania Hondurena de Energia Solar envisaged the construction and operation of a 70 MW photovoltaic power plant at Nacaome. The sponsor had secured a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with state-owned utility Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE). Compania Hondurena de Energia Solar was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inversiones y Representaciones Electromecánicas, S.A. de C.V. (IRESA). The investment was estimated at US$ 120 million. In January 2015, the IFC approved a US$ 30.75 million financing package (US$ 0.75 risk management; US$ 30 million loan). In addition, the Austrian development bank OEEB also approved a 25 million loan. The remaining costs were equity financed. |
