Valley Road - Richardson Street Watermain Connection

The proposed watermain connection from Valley Road to Richardson Street will provide a second connection between north and south Rockwood and reduce reliance on 40 year old thin walled watermain which is prone to breaks. This is an important connection as fire storage for Rockwood is located in the south portion. There is a single watermain connection along Highway 7 (Main Street South) in Rockwood which connects north and south Rockwood and there have been recent breaks where fire protection has been lost in north Rockwood. The project would consist of approximately 260 meters of new 250 mm diameter watermain and replacement of approximately 100 meters of existing 150 mm diameter watermain with new 250 watermain. Given the layout of Rockwood, this is the best possible location to provide a much needed second connection point between north and south Rockwood. This connection was identified as a need during the infrastructure review as part of the Townships 2015 Water Rate Study. It was scheduled as a 2019 project in the Final Rate Study.
