This Technical Cooperation (TC) will provide technical support to Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) & Gaia Amazonas to lead stakeholder engagement processes with civil society, government entities, Indigenous authorities, and private sector actors for the pilot design of innovative financial mechanisms to protect the Rainforest based on the "Amazon's Flying River as an Asset Class". In partnership, Blue Green Future (BGF) will lead the development of the economic valuation of the Flying River and the design of a natural capital asset framework to support long-term conservation finance mechanisms, to ensure the financial sustainability of local community-led forest protection and regeneration, thereby securing the ecosystem services provided by the Last Flying River of the Amazon to cities and sectors (ie. water provision). Valuation of Natural Capital & Ecosystem Services has proven to be key to accelerate transition to regenerative economies, as has been the case with the MesoAmerican Reef. Valuation of the Last Flying River of the Amazon will enable to evaluate material and financial risk across the amazon region and implement innovative finance for nature positive local development.
