Value Chain Approach to Poverty Reduction

The main objective of this project is to gain better understanding of the distributional impacts of value chain upgrading initiatives as a basis for prioritization of policies and programs in support of value chains development according to their effectiveness in poverty alleviation. The specific objectives are: (i) to develop an analytical framework and methodology for determining the pro-poor impact of public and private actions to develop and upgrade value chains (ii) to produce recommendations for specific policies and Bank programs that would boost incomes of the poor by enhancing their participation in the value chains for textile industry in Honduras and beef and dairy industry in Nicaragua.
