Values of Interwoven Cultures in European Union

The project explores the EU's cultural policy in the EU's integration process, what the common European cultural heritage means based on the concepts of difference and richness, and the protection of the said heritage within the framework of pluralism and EU values at institutional, policy and sectoral levels. In Turkey-EU relations, there is a lack of knowledge at public level on issues like the EU's cultural policy, the European common cultural heritage and the basic values on which the EU is based. This lack of knowledge leads Turkish public to evaluate the EU as wrong, incomplete and prejudiced. As such, this project will focus on filling the knowledge gap on the EU's cultural policy, the European common cultural heritage and the fundamental values of the EU. To overcome this deficiency, awareness and information will be provided to a wide segment of public including students, academics, public institutions and non-governmental employees working on the EU, young people and those who are more distant from the EU process in daily life. Activities will be carried out to increase knowledge and awareness. In this context, the content of the EU course currently being taught in Anadolu University as a Graduate Program will be replaced with a new content. Besides a MOOC will be designed and available at the University to the participation of general society within the framework of the above-mentioned issues. In the project, online webinars and other events will be held. The Model EU Simulation activities, will be given to get to know the EU and its policies better. All these efforts aim to eliminate the lack of information and raise awareness about the above-mentioned topics, on the basis of the EU's unity in diversity and intercultural dialogue approaches in various parts of the Turkish public. Thus, it will contribute to the perception, knowledge and voice of the EU in the Turkish public to be heard accurately and away from disinformation.
