Van Horne Trail Upgrades

The Town of Saint Andrews is working in conjunction with the East Coast Link Trail to create an arm of the trail through our municipality. The Town currently has 4 km of trail but would like to expand it by an additional 10 km to provide access to most areas of the Town. The project will be primarily based along existing roads or trails. The plan will involve creating shared lanes but widened to increase the safety of bikes/pedestrians and may involve changing traffic patterns to one way along some routes. The construction would involve shouldering, milling and asphalting along existing infrastructure and fill and asphalt along trails that are currently a gravel surface. In addition, the scope of work includes creating barriers to deviate the active transportation lanes from traffic, and installing poles, stanchions, planters, and reflectors. Project includes the following sections of trail: Brandy Cove Road, Joe’s Point Road, Water Street, Prince of Wales Street, and Cornelia Street.
