Description | A proposal to fast-track social housing towers of up to 20 storeys in many locations around Vancouver was developed to make it faster and easier to build non-profit housing. The initiative aimed to allow eligible non-profit housing providers to save time and money by enabling projects without the need for rezoning and public hearings. The proposal included pre-zoning certain areas for social housing projects of up to 20 storeys and other areas for six storeys. However, the proposal was rejected by Vancouver city council citing public opposition and concerns about the impact of tall towers. |
