Description | The Varahi Pumped Storage Project is proposed at the Hosangadi Machchettu area in Kundapur taluk, Udupi district. It is being implemented in ecologically sensitive regions of the Western Ghats, including wildlife sanctuaries and tiger protection areas. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and is likely to be submitted to Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL). The project has received approval from the National Wildlife Board after several meetings, and a tender for DPR preparation has been awarded.
