The scheme of the project entails a route of 8.15 km for the transit of vehicles with direction to Rapel or to the northern coastal area of ​​the Region of Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins from Route 78, which emerges as an alternative to avoid crossing the urban area of ​​the commune of Melipilla.The variant is connected to Route 78 through the Rapel Link, at the height of km 63 of Route 78, and ends on Route G-60. Its layout includes a new bridge over the Maipo river.The work made it possible to speed up the circulation of vehicles in an area with high flows and improved the level of service in the sector formed by Route G-60, Camino Melipilla-Crucero Las Arañas-Rapel, on the Melipilla-Puente Ingeniero Marambio section.
