Description
Description | Undertake a number of improvements to the North Bay Transit Vehicle Storage Facility, including replacing roofing, updating the ventilation system, replacing interior cladding, updating lighting and replacing doors. Initiating the work identified the need to rehabilitate deficient structural components of the facility including removal/replacement of roof insulation to address the work. The additional work includes addressing corrosion of the roof deck including the galvanic corrosion to the roof around the fasteners, detailed visual inspection by an engineer of all roof purlins and trusses to ensure the existing roof structure is capable of supporting roof loads as per current codes and standards and rehabilitation and/or replacement of the structural components required. The improvements will allow the facility to continue to provide protection of transit fleet vehicles from the elements, address structural integrity and safety issues, improve energy efficiency of facility and facilitate minor maintenance activities on the vehicles in the facility. More efficient air exchange will reduce long term operating costs and ensure that facility provides a safe work environment for maintenance and operating staff. |
