Description

Description

As part of a study and subsequent flood mitigation strategy developed in 2018, these sewer improvements on Caledonia, Somers, and Raymond Street are critical to address flooding related to climate change and increased rainfalls. This area is prone to street and property flooding due to its low elevation in relation to the nearby floodplain surrounding Ogilvie Brook. The infrastructure being replaced includes the road infrastructure, water system and sanitary sewer system in addition to the installation of storm sewer relief system. A storm sewer relief system includes the installation of storm sewer pipes, catch basins and a storm sewer outfall. The purpose of this system is to reduce the risk of flooding in the area. The streets being reconstructed as part of this project include Caledonia Road between the Trans-Canada ramp and McNaughton Avenue (600m in length), Somers Drive from Caledonia Road to the end (200m in length) and Raymond Street from Caledonia Road to the end (175m in length).
