Description | Brookfield Asset Management has agreed to form an atomic power-plant development company with startup The Nuclear Company to potentially restart the abandoned VC Summer Nuclear Station project in South Carolina. The new company aims to build a fleet of reactors in the US using designs from Westinghouse Electric Co. The project was previously abandoned in 2017 due to cost overruns and contractor bankruptcy. Brookfield plans to pay Santee Cooper $2.7 billion to acquire the assets and expects to make a final investment decision by late 2027. |
