Description

The Caracas Metropolitan Health Services Project seeks to: a) expand the access to and improve the quality and efficiency of ambulatory care services, pre-medical emergency medical services, and outpatient services of hospitals, for 2.4 million vulnerable persons living in selected municipalities and parishes of the Metropolitan District of Caracas (MDC); b) improve the management of the health care system and support the decentralization process in the health system of the MDC; and c) develop HIV/AIDS prevention and control strategies and activities in the MDC. There are five project components. 1) This component will support the strengthening of health care networks in the MDC to facilitate access, expand coverage, and improve the quality of health services in selected parishes and municipalities. 2) The institutional development component will ensure the virtual integration of health facilities into networks and efficient and effective delivery of the comprehensive health care program. 3) This component will finance development of strategies and activities for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in MDC. 4) This component will finance technical assistance and activities to support the development of legal and organizational instruments and models in MDC. 5) The component will support project management, monitoring, supervision, and impact evaluation of the project.
