Vehicle Acquisition (Phase 11)

Purchase of approximately 29 high capacity (HC) diesel buses. These low floor buses will have a rated passenger capacity of up to 100 with 86 seats/two mobility aid positions. The buses will have the latest Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) engine technology. This acquisition program is to replace aging 2002 double decker Trident buses, which currently service the busiest routes within the Victoria Regional Transit System. The HC buses increase ridership capacity without compromising service. The current HC buses were originally due to retire in 2022/23 and are now proven to be difficult and costly to repair and maintain. the new HC buses will be fueled with Hydrogeneration-derived renewable diesel (HDRD) that mitigates up to 75 percent of GHG emissions. The purchase of these new buses will help maintain the current level of service to passengers using the Victoria Regional Transit System.
