Acquisition of 10 long-range battery electric heavy-duty buses and related charging infrastructure. This project supports the strategy and implementation planning to transition BC Transit’s fleet of heavy duty buses to zero emissions. These buses will replace diesel buses at the end of useful life, and include new buses to support the expansion of transit service to better meet community needs and encourage a shift from auto travel to transit. Buses will feature improved efficiency, accessibility standards, improved safety amenities for drivers and riders, as well as capacity to enable planned technology upgrades for vehicle location tracking, CCTV cameras, and new fare payment systems. The scope of the project also includes the purchase and installation of associated in-depot charging infrastructure, including BC Hydro primary service upgrades, depot electric service distribution, structural/mechanical works, and charging equipment.
