Description

The project entails the construction of an animal WtE plant in Veliky Novgorod, Russia. It will produce 11,900 MWh of electricity per annum, based on a 1.4MW capacity for both heat and electricity. The main layout of the plant consists of the receiving unit for biomass, the gasification unit and the gas engine and turbine unit. A second stage of the project will aim to produce vermicompost and other biofertilisers at the site. The bioenergy plant is planning to enter into a long-term contract on the operation of the plant with international providers. The sale of heat and power will be on a long-term contract with the Novgorodsky Bekon meat production factory and to the free power market. Total investment costs are estimated at €6.7 million. Sources of funding for the project include Russia's Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Baltic Sea Action Plan Fund (BSAP), a fund managed by the Nordic Investment Bank and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO).
