Santa Martina 9 wind farm is located in the municipalities of Riachuelo, Bento Fernandes, Caiçara do Rio do Vento and Ruy Barbosa, in Rio Grande do Norte. It is going to have 63 MW of installed capacity. The sponsor of the project is Casa Dos Ventos. They are developing the project through the Special Purpose Company Ventos de Santa Artur Energias Renováveis ??SA. Total project cost is BRL 284.8 million (54.5 USDm). The financing, in the amount of R$216.7 million (41.5 USDm) is granted by BNDES. The resources correspond to 76% of the total investment amount. Financial closure was achieved in May 2021. The forecast is for the park to start operating by December 2021. The first wind turbine entered the testing phase in May. The implantation of the park will generate around 350 direct and indirect jobs and is aimed at increasing the family income of the local population. The amount corresponds to more than 10% of the total number of persons employed in the four municipalities (3,480) in 2018, according to IBGE data.
