Description
Description | Drone operations have added a new chapter to modern warfare. Uncrewed systems are disrupting the way modern warfare is being fought, and rapid technological adaptation and continuous innovation in UAS will be critical in future warfare, therefore, also for the European security interests. Therefore, VANTAGE project aims to develop the next generation of European tactical drones, improving operational efficiency and integrating cutting-edge C4ISR systems. The project’s ambition is to address key operational challenges such as limited operational range, vulnerability to detection, and the need for real-time data sharing. The project will develop a flexible and modular long-range VTOL platform that can perform various including C4ISR and kinetic strikes. This platform will be designed for adaptability, making it easy to integrate new sensors and navigation systems. This ensures that the drone can operate effectively in diverse environments, even in conditions where GPS/GNSS signals are denied or unavailable. Considering the European needs, Ukrainian example and current technological state-of-the-art in the drone industry, VANTAGE expects to develop several disruptive and innovative technologies that will significantly enhance UAS performance in complex and contested environments: (1) GNSS-Denied and Electronic Warfare resilient Navigation; (2) Swarm and Manned-Unmanned Teaming; (3) Autonomous Flight Control and Dynamic Re-Planning and Integrated Multi-Operator Control; (4) 5G datalink. Project consortium consists of 8 different entities from 6 EU countries. VANTAGE will increase cross-border partnerships within EU, involving SMEs, RTOs and Large Enterprises, for combining cutting-edge expertise and innovation capabilities. |
