Description

Description

New Operations and Maintenance Facility and associated works for custom transit operations serving the Victoria Regional Transit System. The new facility will include, but is not limited to, the construction an administrative space, operations building and transit yard to accommodate up to approximately 110 custom transit buses, with maintenance bays, on-site fueling and an automated bus wash. Infrastructure will also include approximately 27 vehicle charging stations (to accommodate an initial fleet capacity of approximately 55 vehicles), incoming 3,000KvA transformer, building connections, switchgear, main panel and cabling, underground conduits, and other equipment required to support an eventual buildout of approximately 55 charging stations to support a 110-bus fleet. The need for a new facility was identified in the Victoria Regional Transit System 2011 Transit Future Plan, which provides a vision for transit over the next 25 years. The Transit Future Plan, endorsed by the Victoria Regional Transit Commission (VRTC), was based on local government land use and transportation plans including the Regional Growth Strategy. This facility will replace an aging and over capacity facility at another location, and allow BC Transit to increase its capacity to provide crucial handyDART services to riders in the Victoria Regional Transit System who are unable to access conventional transit.
