Description

Description

This 104-MW coal-fired plant was located at Engineering Island and was developed on a build-operate-transfer basis by Sabah Shipyard Pvt. Ltd., a unit of Westmont Ltd. The project, launched in May 1994, was the world's largest electricity generating barge, built at a cost of 143 million ringgit (US$54.6 million) for the Philippine National Power Corp. (Napocor). Transmission lines servicing the project were 5 kilometers in length. The project generated much needed power to the Philippine capital of Manila. The management contract for the project was signed by Sabah Shipyard on October 26, 1993 for five years. The annual fee for the management contract was US$2.5 million. The government had provided guarantees to the project, including a PPA. After its 5 year contract the owner decided to relocate the powerbarge. On 2 March 2000 the 'Victoria One' together with the fuel barge 'Sky One' left the Philippines on dry transport to the Dominican Republic on the deck of the heavy transport vessel Swan. None None
