Description | The government of Victoria has expanded its pilot project providing virtual specialist care access across the state. Led by Austin Health and Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Virtual Hospital programme provides virtual wards for heart failure and post-cardiac patients, remote foetal medicine consultations, and regional support services using digital tools for daily monitoring, virtual rounds, and coordination through a central digital hub. The pilot began in December and has treated more than 260 patients, saving over 1,000 bed days. It aims to support up to 400 patients by the end of June. |
