Description | Located in San Marcos de Colon, the project involves the DBFOM of a 49.5MW wind farm and 37km transmission line and substation. Vientos de Electrotecnia, a subsidiary of family-owned Grupo Terra closed a US$127.5 million debt-financing on 22 November 2013. Debt was provided by five lenders: •Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO) US$42.5 million •Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG) US$30 million •Proparco US$21 million •Interact Climate Change Facility (ICCF) US$19 million •OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) US$15 million FMO acted as mandated lead arranger and facility and paying agent. Investment was estimated at US$ 130 million. Gamesa and Iberdrola were EPC contractors for the wind farm, while Cobra was EPC contractor for the transmission line. Gamesa was to provide operation and maintenance. Sidley Houston and Melara Tegucigalpa provided legal counsel to the sponsors, while Shearman & Sterling and Matamoros & Asociados provided legal counsel to the lenders. Mott MacDonald was environmental consultant to the project. The wind farm had a 20-year PPA agreement with Honduras state power company Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica (ENEE). The facility and transmission line were to be transferred to ENEE seven years from the beginning of operations.
