Vietnam Time Use Survey Production

The Vietnam Time Use Survey Production Project will assist the General Statistics Office (GSO) to implement a nationally representative time use survey following international best practices but adapted to Vietnam’s context. The survey design shall be based on results of a pilot time use survey, implemented by the GSO and the World Bank with financing support from the Second Australia Bank Partnership (ABP2) Trust Fund - Gender Pillar. The survey will cover 6000 individuals across all provinces of the country, stratified by six regions – Mekong Delta, South East, Central Highlands, Northern and Coastal Central, Midland and Northern Mountains and Red River Delta - and is designed to be representative at the regional level. Ethnic minorities shall be oversampled so that inference of male and female’s differences in time use patterns within groups is feasible with a reasonable degree of certainty.The project will have three components, namely (i) survey preparation and data collection – covering the costs for fieldwork preparation and data collection such as finalization of survey tools, training, sampling, data enumeration and field supervision activities, (ii) data analysis and dissemination - which covers data analysis, reporting and dissemination activities for both the data and the report that will be made available to the public and (iii) project management – covering professional audit of the project and the operating costs, which includes project coordination, procurement and financial management. The GSO is appointed as the single executing agency in charge of this operation.
