Information Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has come up with Vikram Simhapuri Univerisity Expansion Project with a ticket size of 157.15 INR Crores. This project in Education Infrastructure sub-sector involves The current status of the project is DPR/Feasibility Study and is being developed through the PPP route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project VIKRAMA SIMHAPURI UNIVERSITY was established on 25th June 2008 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh with an extent of 83.31 acres. VSU, came into being fulfilling the long-cherished dream of the people of Sri Potti Sreeramulu Nellore district which made history in the field of Higher Education in Andhra Pradesh. The Post Graduate Center, Kavali was added to Vikrama Simhapuri University from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 2011 with an extent of 78.9 acres. VSU is thus situated in an ambience of great cultural awakening, fascinating journeys of the mind, and rapid economic development. In the globalized context of development of the district with its beacons of modernity like the SHAR, Krishnapatnam Port, SEZs, etc., the locale demands the University a vision and a mission that reflect this saga of progress. The University is thus tuned to help knowledge dissemination and skill development in frontier areas to enable the empowerment of the youth. VISION To be recognized as a premier educational institution engaged in creation and dissemination of knowledge and wisdom to impact the society through quality in teaching, research, extension activities and entrepreneurship to meet societal needs and global challenges. Create the ambience for the University-Industry interaction to foster the students for acquiring and utilization of cutting-edge technologies. The University has been a beacon of academic excellence. Currently, with 23 departments in Nellore and Kavali with an intake of more than 1500 students. University is progressing to introduce Campus Engineering College at Nellore and Pharmacy College at Vikrama Simhapuri University Post Graduate Center, Kavali. A diligently crafted environment conducive to holistic learning, supported by fairly well-equipped infrastructure and research facilities is created. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi, conferred 12 B Status to the VSU and awarded with A Grade of CGPA 3.23 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, New Delhi, on September 14, 2023 in the first cycle. The VSU has 99 affiliated Colleges belonging to SPS Nellore District jurisdiction. Vikrama Simhapuri University is expanding by introducing new programmes based on the changing trends in Higher Education and so the student enrolment is increasing gradually and more space is needed for accommodating them. Both academic and hostel facilities need to be improved to create professional and conducive ambiance in VSU. SPS Nellore District is situated in the coastal area of 169 km cost line along the Bay of Bengal. VSU is situated in a place where aqua industry plays a crucial role in shrimp production Nellore named as shrimp bowl of India for exporting across the countries, pharmaceutical industries, food and beverage industries, space research, etc are surrounded. The curriculum comprises a set of innovative programmes for academic progress of the student for the pursuits of job or entrepreneurship such as Marine Biology, Biotechnology, Food Technology and Microbiology etc., PROPOSAL SUBMITTED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT The District Administration has handed over 83.31 acres of land at Kakutur Village, Venkatachalam, Mandal, SPSR Nellore District, for the infrastructure development of the University in the year 2011. Vikrama Simhapuri University started functioning form the new campus with a few buildings since 2017. Completed works which were included the DPR of NIP. A proposal for 112.25 crore is submitted to National Infrastructure Pipeline in 2019 to improve the infrastructure in the campus. As there is a time lapse of four years, some of the buildings which were mentioned in the proposal were completed meeting the expenditure from the University self-funds of Rs.20.26 crore with the approval of the State Government expecting the sanction of the spent amount whenever the project is initiated. The details are as given below: The construction costs of the works which are not taken up for execution are escalated as per the SSR rates in vogue and hence the 40 Per cent escalation in the cost of the construction is included. After excluding the completed works, as per the DPR submitted in 2019 the total estimated cost of the following works to be undertaken is escalated to Rs. 136.89 crore. DETAILS OF WORKS UNDERGOING AND TO BE UNDERTAKEN ON PRIORITY BASIS The university after submission of Detailed Project Report to the National Infrastructure Pipeline in 2019, as a part of developmental activity it has undertaken some of the construction works meeting the expenditure from the University self funds. The details of works done are already mentioned . The works to be undertaken on priority basis are detailed above. University Site plan with proposed buildings, Building Plans, Photographs of the existing buildings are also provided for further references and consideration of this project as an attachment to initiate for the benefit of the rural students especially women students.
