Description

Design and construction of granular activated carbon contactors (GAC) to resolve taste and odour issues in the source water before chlorination. This will involve construction of a new building to house the GAC treatment. Facility improvements and electrical system upgrades will also be completed within the existing Carp Water Treatment Facility building, including a new transfer switch, replacement of the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), improvements to power monitoring, surge protection, and communication points to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), replacement of the Motor Control Center (MCC), new priority alarm panel and surge arrestor termination panel, improvements to the chlorine pumping system, and additional of flow meters (2) on the water intake pipes. Switching the power and heating source of the GAC building from electric to natural gas. Additionally, contaminated soil within the existing water treatment facility property will undergo remediation and removal.
