Description

Description

The main objective of the project is to complete an environmental site assessment, develop a construction plan for the decommissioning and closure of the landfill. The current landfill facility stopped accepting waste in 2015. There are piles of concrete, branches, wood, and clean debris on the surface but historical landfilling was primarily conducted in buried pits. The pits are dug style, unlined waste disposal cells and historical burning of waste on-site did occur. An overall site area of approximately 10 acres has been assumed for the purpose of developing the cost estimate. Within that area, waste covers an area of approximately 100m by 100m square. It is assumed that the entire 100m by 100m area will require engineering cover. Scope of work includes conducting Phase II - Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), and corrective action plan for the removal of surface materials; capping of mounded and buried water to prevent surface infiltration and leachate generation; Leachate Management; and Gas Migration and management, as required.
