Description

Description

The project is to install new 150mm HDPE DR 11 water distribution lines with new curb stops, valves and hydrants within the street right of ways within the Village of Loon Lake. This distribution system is connected to the Village of Loon Lake water treatment plant which is located within the municipality. Current lines were installed in 1966 and are AC asbestos wrapped pipes have deteriorated to the point where the Village of Loon Lake has several water breaks per year. It seems anytime lines are flushed or hydrants are opened we end up with a major water break. Each water break causes homes and business to be without potable water for several hours and possibly days depending on how long to repair break and time of year of break which is then followed by a boil water advisory for several days and/or weeks. These breaks are very expensive for the municipality as it is difficult to find contractors that are able to work with asbestos pipe in such a remote community.
