Description

Description

The project consists of the rehabilitation of an existing seasonal swimming pool facility in the community of Mayo, Yukon prior reopening the facility for the 2020 swimming season. The project will consists of general public safety repairs (floor patching, repair and coating, signage etc.), boiler replacement, and mechanical system upgrades (pipes, valves, pumps, skimmers, drains, chemical feed system, vacuum ports etc.). The project will contribute to improved access to quality recreational infrastructure in Mayo, Yukon. The Village of Mayo notified the Yukon Government, Community Services in the spring of 2019 that the pool boiler needed continuous repairs and attendance to maintain operation. Community Services engaged a mechanical consultant to determine the extent of work required to replace the boiler. It was then determined that the structure supporting the boiler and mechanical systems was also in disrepair and will require replacement. In addition, Yukon Government, Environmental Health Services engaged the services of Delta-T Consultants to inspect multiple community swimming pool facilities during the summer months of 2019. The Village of Mayo pool was inspected on July 25, 2019 and subsequent report outlining condition and required repairs was issued August 8, 2019. Work required as part of this project as outlined in the Delta-T report includes: • Boiler replacement and structural repairs; • Mechanical system - piping and white goods repairs and retrofits; • This may include, pipe replacement, valves, pumps, skimmers, drains, returns and vacuum ports and chemical feed system. • General public safety repairs; • This may include floor patching, repair and coatings, signage.
